Behind the Scenes with Cinda Gault

How the Romance Past Convictions Found Life and Love Again

Past Convictions first appeared as a Harlequin Superromance in 1988, reaching readers around the world in multiple languages. Now, 37 years later—and refreshed to reflect the technology and realities of today—the story returns in a new 2025 edition. Listen to this video for the story behind the story!

Everything I Hope For: Launch at the Revue Theatre

I was thrilled to welcome attendees to the launch of my new historical novel, Everything I Hope For, at the Revue Theatre in Toronto. As a Canadian writer, I shared a bit about my writing background, along with a reading of the first chapter. Have a listen!

Sneak Peek

Enjoy this glimpse into the story of A Small Compass with a reading of two passages celebrating these female Canadian legends of the nineteenth century. Strong female characters take us with them into the wilderness on each of their journeys into the Canadian wilderness as the first two non-Indigenous women to go there. Canadian historical fiction that brings this world alive!

What's in a title?

Have you ever wondered where book titles really come from? For all the expert advice about grabbing a reader’s attention, the most meaningful titles usually grow naturally from the heart of the story. Here’s the surprising path that led me to A Small Compass

Setting of A Small Compass

Stromness, where Isobel Gunn was hired onto a Hudson’s Bay ship as John Fubbister. The population is 2,500 today. She must have had help getting past the prying eyes of a small village, especially when an apprentice needed a veteran sponsor.
